Berry Jam

Berry Jam

Homemade berry jam is naturally sweet, healthy, and refreshing. Sweet jam is quick and easy to prepare and can be enjoyed fresh or stored for the winter.

Preparation time: 15 minutesDifficulty of preparation: Simple

Ingredients:
400 g fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, currants, or others)
50 g chia seeds
3 tbsp honey
1/2 lemon

Preparation

  • To begin, prepare clean jars and disinfect them by adding them to boiling water. Then leave the jars to dry on a clean cloth.
  • Wash the fresh berries and add them to the cooking pot. Heat over low heat while kneading the fruit with a fork or kneader until it becomes a liquid mixture.
  • When the mixture boils, stir in the chia seeds. Stir gently for about 3–5 minutes until you get the right density. In addition to nutritionally enriching jam, chia seeds serve well as a natural thickener.
  • Towards the end, squeeze the juice of half a lemon and sweeten with honey as desired. Stir everything and turn off the heat.
  • Pour the freshly prepared jam to the top of a clean jar and seal well.

Leave the jar to cool at room temperature, then store it in a dark, cool place. Although you will definitely want to enjoy the jam as soon as possible, an adequate storage process is useful for saving a larger amount for later. This storage procedure will create a vacuum that will protect the jam from rapid spoilage, and a well-sealed and stored jam will last up to a year. You can decorate a jar of jam with creative labels and thus bring a little imagination to the pantry shelf. A cute jam jar can also be a very sweet gift.

In addition to the natural sweetness of blueberries, honey or other healthy sweeteners complement the jammy taste. Because of its freshness and sweetness, berry jam is an ideal breakfast, snack, or light dinner. It goes great with pancakes, and I was personally delighted by the combination of jam and homemade homemade pyrrhic bread.

To prepare the jam in the photo, I chose blueberries. However, instead of blueberries, you can choose some other berries, such as raspberries, currants, cranberries, strawberries, or others. It is known that berries are rich in healthy vitamins and minerals, and during their season, there are many opportunities to enjoy their benefits. For example, in addition to cooking delicious jam, you can refresh yourself with a vitamin smoothie or sweeten up with a delicious wild berry cake.

Berries can be found growing on their own in the woods, but they can also be grown in the garden. Forests and organically homegrown berries are the healthiest options. If you decide to pick berries in the woods, as with mushrooms, it is very important to distinguish edible berries from poisonous ones. But with a good knowledge of forest fruits, conscientious harvesting can be very fulfilling. Summer is the right time for nature trips, and maybe the search for forest fruits inspires you to do so.

Enjoy the nature and the sweet taste of healthy jam!
