Banana and Lavender Ice Cream

Banana and Lavender Ice Cream

Ice cream is one of the most popular sweets that gives us joy and comfort. Banana ice cream with lavender is a healthy and fragrant combination for sweet pleasure.

Preparation time: 15 minutesDifficulty of preparation: SimpleNumber of servings: 2

Ingredients:
2 bananas
100 g Greek yogurt
2 tsp dried lavender flowers
1/2 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional)

Preparation

  • Peel the bananas and cut them into rings. Place the sliced bananas in a freezer bag or closed container and keep in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
  • Add the frozen bananas to a blender along with the cold Greek yogurt and dried lavender flowers. The yogurt adds freshness and contributes to the creamy texture of the ice cream, while the lavender adds its aromatic properties. Mix everything together until you get a creamy mixture.
  • If you like sweeter desserts, you can add some honey, maple syrup, or another healthy sweetener to the blender. In addition to the yogurt and the aromatic lavender, forest fruits such as blueberries, blackberries, or black currants would also blend well.
  • The ice cream tastes best when served right away, but you can continue to cool it in the freezer. If you are serving ice cream that has been in the freezer for a long time, let it melt for a few minutes at room temperature.

Whether we are looking for refreshment in the hot summer months or simply need some sweet comfort on a gloomy day, ice cream is often the best recipe for relaxation. Because of its natural sweetness, dietary fiber, and creamy texture, banana is a great choice for making healthy desserts. Banana ice cream is a well-known healthy alternative to classic ice creams, whose recipes can be found in various combinations. The creamy banana base gives us the foundation for creativity and the opportunity to create our own personal versions of ice cream. For my version, I chose lavender flowers, which make the banana ice cream a really aromatic dessert.

Lavender is known as a medicinal, fragrant, and ornamental plant. It blooms in early summer, but dried lavender flowers are available year-round. If you decide to pick and dry lavender yourself, choose lavender that you are sure has not been treated with harmful pesticides. Also, avoid drying in direct sunlight so that the flowers retain as much fragrance as possible. In the kitchen, dried lavender flowers are most often used to make tea. However, due to their aromatic properties, they have greater potential in the kitchen. Lavender is particularly suitable for the preparation of various desserts, to which it lends a special charm with its fragrant aroma.

However, lavender is most often used in the preparation of fragrant products. Probably the most popular is lavender essential oil, which is known for its soothing and calming properties. In addition, lavender is an inexhaustible source of creativity for making very simple decorations. For example, a bouquet of dried lavender is a beautiful and fragrant decoration that will adorn the room all year round. Similarly, lavender flowers are often used to make fragrant potpourri, which you can easily make yourself. Such creative fragrant decorations can be a nice gift when we want to give someone something personal and heartfelt. If you find this interesting, you may also like the tea made from rose petals. Rose petals are also suitable for making various fragrant decorations.

Bon appetit!
